​As a YES Connect member, you'll not only receive in-person support from YES, but also gain access to a bunch of great online resources, including:

• Now Hiring List of over 60 businesses in Tompkins County that hire teens. We update it every other week, and it includes links to online applications and/or downloadable paper applications for the businesses. 
• Training Videos to help you find jobs, fill out applications and prep for your interview.
• Downloadable Tools, including Resume Templates, Job History Worksheets, Sample Interview Questions, and Career Planning Tools.​

Fill out the YES Application and schedule an Interview

Download a copy of our application and complete it to the best of your ability. Make sure both you and a parent or guardian sign the back. Then turn in the application at our office or your school's YES outreach and ask to setup an interview. 

The interview will give you a chance to answer some common job interview questions, as well as tell us more about what you are interested in and what you are hoping to get out of your YES experience. 

YES staff will give you feedback and encouragement on both your application and your interview. You'll also receive our Job Blueprint, which will give you all the info you need to succeed with YES.

Pick a Target and develop an Action Plan

Plenty of teens like the idea of having a job, but have no idea how to get one. The Target and Action Plan are the heart of YES Connect. Every teen who works with YES picks a Target or goal that will be the focus of our work together. Your YES Rep will work with you to brainstorm the steps you will need to take to reach your goal. You'll leave this meeting with a crystal clear sense of what you hope to achieve, and how you plan to get there.

Work with YES to meet your goal!

Once you've created your customized Target and Action Plan, work with your YES Rep to meet your goal. You can work together one-on-one or check in with us as you progress. If you meet your target, you can always pick another to work toward with YES.
