types of jobs

YES Connect: for teens ages 14-20 living in Tompkins County. YES Connect provides support for teens looking for a part-time job. We maintain a current now-hiring list of local businesses and can help our members with online applications and interview preparation. Membership in YES Connect also includes access to our workshops and training series, all about building the skills necessary for success at work.

Subsidized Employment through YES: We also have several programs that allow us to pay teens to work at local businesses on a part-time basis, primarily during the summer months. These programs have varying age and residency requirements, but priority is given to teens younger than 16 and first-time workers. These jobs are often 6-8 week placements but sometimes extend longer. During the work experience, a YES Representative will maintain contact with the teen and the supervisor, to help address any questions or concerns, and to make the work experience as successful as possible. There are a small number of placements available during the school year, and many more during the summer months. Past placements include Collegetown Bagels, Cass Park, Primitive Pursuits, Southside Community Center, Comet Skateboards, Ithaca Children’s Garden, Drop-In Children’s Center, Recycle Ithaca’s Bicycles, GIAC, and many, many more!
